Fifteen minutes from Calma Villa rises the most famous balcony of the Sierra Calderona: the Garbí, a ledge of reddish rock slabs hanging 600 metres above the sea. From its railing you take in Sagunto and its port, the Albufera lagoon, the city of Valencia and — on clear days — Montgó and Penyagolosa.
There are two ways to earn these views. The easy one: drive up to the Pla del Garbí car park (20–25 minutes from the villa) and walk the Blue Route, a 1.8 km loop of about 50 minutes suitable for the whole family. The sporty one: hike from Estivella — the next village over — along the Senda Vella, a 9–10 km round trip with 500 m of climbing through pine woods and old bridle paths (3–3.5 hours).
At the top waits the Llosar del Garbí, the stack of red sandstone slabs that stars in every classic photo of the Calderona, and beside the viewpoint, the little Santa Creu hermitage surrounded by picnic tables under the pines. Sunrises and sunsets here are simply unforgettable.
Park at Pla del Garbí (not at the summit roundabout), carry water — there are no springs on the way — and keep children close at the Llosar, an unfenced ledge. Summer weekends get busy; midweek you may have it to yourself.
Almost: you drive to the Pla del Garbí car park, and from there it is a short signposted walk to the viewpoint along the 1.8 km Blue Route.
The Senda Vella is moderate: 9–10 km round trip with about 500 m of climbing. With hiking shoes and water it suits any regular walker.
